This unique “reverse flow” engine, which turbochargers are positioned in the area V between the cylinder banks, produces an instant and constant wave of power, making it a pleasure for the enthusiast driver energy.
instantaneous power and torque are the stand-out features of the V-8 engine available in the new BMW 650i Convertible. The engine combines sportiness with exceptional smoothness, linear power delivery, and exceptional efficiency. The engine can be paired with 8-speed Sport or BMW’s new gearbox or automatic transmission BMW 6-speed manual traditional, very popular among enthusiasts in North America.

The 8-speed Sport automatic transmission equipped with the new BMW 650i Convertible is a perfect combination of speed, flexibility, efficiency and sportiness. His slip of the torque converter and minimal gear changes rapidly distinguish. A set of innovative configurations gear transmission allowing it to offer eight gears, optimizing the sprinting power by allowing the driver to save fuel when driving at low speeds. Naturally, the driver can choose to select gears manually via paddles on the steering wheel standard leather Sport.
Besides the efficiency of the engine and an 8-speed Sport automatic transmission, a wide range of BMW EfficientDynamics measures to help reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Brake Energy Regeneration, on-demand operation of auxiliary components, lightweight construction, intelligent and extensive aerodynamic refinement to ensure maximum efficiency.
Cutting edge technology gives the new BMW 650i chassis Cabrio tools to provide treatment of sportiness and comfort. The double wishbone front axle and rear axle multi-link are made mostly of aluminum. The chassis is geared to the needs of drivers with sporting intentions, although the dampers also respond sensitively to bumps on the road at high lateral acceleration. The optional Active Roll Stabilization combines with the standard Dynamic Damper Control to give the driver even more precise responses and ability to bend perfectly flat. The dampers are electronically controlled to adapt to the road surface and style of the driver to control movements of the body perfectly.

The electronically controlled damping system in the new BMW 6 Series Convertible adjusts the compression settings and ongoing recovery and independent. For example, setting a rigid chassis can be combined with comfortable answers irregularity in the road surface. The control unit cushioning system processes the data provided by sensors on the movements of elevation of the wheels and ride height of the car. Conduction velocity and damper setting chosen by the driver are also taken into account in calculating the damping force required for each wheel, even outside the body movements. This information is fed back into the damper units at intervals of only 2.5 milliseconds.
Active Roll Stabilization feature (optional) reduces body roll in high speed corners and sudden changes of direction, or transitions. Sensors calculate the amount of body roll due to the driving situation in hand, and this is then neutralized with speed and precision hydraulic rotary actuators for the front axle and rear swaybars, leading to a significant improvement in the management of body movement.
The electric power steering Servotronic assistance vehicle characteristics, speed-sensitive pattern, and serves up a familiar prescription BMW precision, comfort and linear response.
The new BMW 650i Convertible is the first car in its class that can be fitted with Integral Active Steering. This system combines the Active Steering system for front axle (available in the previous generation 6 Series Cabrio) with a new rear axle airships. Movements precisely harmonized steering angle in both axes to create a virtual lengthening or shortening of the wheelbase of the vehicle, which fosters greater stability at high speed and maneuverability for parking and improved use of the city.
